What are Bach Flower Remedies?
Bach Flower Remedies were developed in the 1930s by Dr Edward Bach, a British doctor and homeopath who believed that our emotional wellbeing plays an important part in our overall health.
Dr Bach developed a system of 38 individual flower remedies, made from different wild flowers, plants and trees. His approach was based on the belief that each remedy carries its own subtle energetic qualities and can help support a particular emotional state.
The remedies work on an emotional and energetic level rather than through a chemical action.
Each of the 38 remedies is associated with a different emotional state, including fear, worry, overwhelm, grief, irritability, uncertainty and lack of confidence.
Many people are familiar with Rescue Remedy, one of the best-known Bach combinations, often used during times of stress. The full range allows remedies to be selected more individually according to how you are feeling.
How do Bach Flower Remedies help?
Bach Flower Remedies offer gentle support during times when you may be feeling emotionally out of balance — perhaps stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, frustrated, low in mood, lacking confidence or simply struggling to cope with everything that is going on.
Our emotional and physical wellbeing are closely connected, and periods of emotional strain can affect how we feel within ourselves and how well we cope day to day.
The remedies are chosen according to how you are feeling emotionally, rather than simply according to a physical symptom.
They can be particularly supportive during periods of change or emotional difficulty — including relationship difficulties, bereavement, illness, recovery, hormonal changes such as perimenopause and menopause, or other stressful life events.
How I use Bach Flower Remedies in my Consultations
Bach Flower Remedies are included where appropriate within my Full Health MOT and Homeopathy appointments, providing gentle emotional support alongside the other work we are doing.
Using Kinesiology testing, I can explore which flower remedies your body indicates may be most supportive for you at that particular time. This allows the selection of flower remedies to be personalised to your current emotional needs.
You may be recommended several different Bach Flower Remedies, which you can take individually or together as advised. The remedies you need may also change over time as circumstances change and different emotions come to the surface.
I find Bach Flower Remedies particularly helpful for providing gentle, day-to-day emotional support alongside Homeopathy and the deeper work taking place within your treatment.
Are Bach Flower Remedies safe?
Bach Flower Remedies are very gentle and are widely used by adults, children, babies, and animals.
They can be used alongside medication and other natural therapies, as they work on an energetic level rather than through chemical action.
In my practice, they are often used as part of a wider holistic approach to support emotional wellbeing during times of stress, illness, hormonal change, or life transitions.
