Schedule 10 Minute Enquiry CallWhat is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a gentle, effective, safe system of natural medicine that has been used for more than 200 years, supporting both adults and children with a wide range of health concerns.
Rather than treating a diagnosis or individual symptom in isolation, Homeopathy considers the whole person – your physical symptoms, general health, energy, sleep, emotions and the individual ways in which you experience ill health.
This is why two people experiencing apparently similar symptoms may need completely different homeopathic remedies.
My role as your Homeopath is to understand your individual symptom picture and select the remedy or remedies that most closely match what your body needs at that time.
If you are new to Homeopathy, you may also find it helpful to read my Testimonials, where patients share their experiences of Homeopathy and the changes to their health, symptoms, energy and wellbeing – it’s life changing for many!
Why Use Homeopathy?
If you are looking for a natural approach to supporting your health, Homeopathy may be ideal for you. Homeopathic medicines are gentle and non-addictive and can be used alongside conventional medicine.
Homeopathy recognises that symptoms of ill health can be expressions of disharmony within the whole person, and therefore it is the person who needs treating, rather than simply treating individual symptoms in isolation.
I often explain to patients that symptoms are our clever body’s way of talking to us and letting us know when something is out of balance. As Homeopaths, we look at the complete picture of your health and interpret these messages to understand what your body is asking for.
By choosing remedies that closely match your individual symptom picture, Homeopathy aims to help restore balance within the body, supporting improvements in your symptoms, energy, emotional wellbeing and overall health.
How does it work?
Homeopathy is based upon the principle of “like cures like” — the idea that a substance capable of producing a particular pattern of symptoms in a healthy person may, when prepared homeopathically, be used for someone experiencing a similar symptom picture.

For example, Apis mellifica, prepared from the honeybee, has a traditional homeopathic picture involving heat, redness, swelling and stinging or burning sensations. It may therefore be considered where somebody’s symptoms have these same characteristics.

Another simple example is Coffea, prepared from coffee. Coffee can produce wakefulness and an overactive mind, while Coffea in homeopathic form is traditionally considered for certain patterns of sleeplessness.
Homeopathic remedies undergo a repeated process of dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking), known as potentisation. Within Homeopathy, remedies are understood to act energetically, with different remedies and potencies selected according to the individual person and their symptoms.
What does a Consultation involve?
Homeopathy can be booked as a standalone Homeopathy appointment, or it is included as part of my comprehensive Full Health MOT.
Your first consultation gives us time to explore your health in detail. We will discuss the symptoms that have brought you to me, but I will also ask about other aspects of your health that help me understand your overall picture.
I then bring this information together to determine the homeopathic remedy or remedies that I feel are most appropriate for you.
Where helpful, I may also use gentle Kinesiology muscle testing to check how your body responds to a Homeopathic remedy and whether it is comfortable with the potency selected. This can provide an additional way of checking that the prescription feels right for your body.
Your remedies are included as part of your appointment, together with clear instructions explaining when and how to take them.
At follow-up appointments, we look at what has changed since your previous prescription — what has improved, what remains and whether anything new has appeared. I can then decide whether your existing remedy needs repeating or whether your prescription needs adjusting as your treatment progresses.
Will I need a Follow-Up Consultation?
Yes. I will usually recommend your first follow-up appointment around four weeks after your initial consultation. This allows us to assess how you have responded to your homeopathic prescription, what has improved or changed, and what your body needs next.
As treatment progresses, I offer two different Homeopathy follow-up appointments, depending on the level of support you need.
A 20-minute Homeopathy Follow-Up is ideal when we simply need a shorter check-in to review your progress and consider whether your remedy or potency needs adjusting or repeating.
For more complex or long-standing health concerns, I may recommend a 50-minute Homeopathy Follow-Up. This gives us more time to explore changes in your symptoms in detail and gradually work through the different layers of your health as treatment progresses.
I will guide you as to which appointment length I feel is most appropriate, so you don’t need to decide this alone.
Save 20% with a Follow-up plan
Many of my patients choose to purchase my 20% Follow-Up Plan, either while working with me on an ongoing health concern or simply as a way of checking in and supporting their health naturally throughout the year.
My Follow-Up Plans offer a 20% saving on my usual follow-up fees, with the option to spread the cost through 0% instalments.
Your plan can also be shared between members of your immediate family, making it a flexible way to access Homeopathic support for the whole family when you need it.
How long will it take before I feel well?
Everyone responds to Homeopathy differently, but usually we see positive changes beginning within the first week or so. These may initially be changes in your main symptoms, or you may notice improvements in areas such as energy, sleep, mood or your overall sense of wellbeing.
I often describe Homeopathic treatment as like peeling back the layers of an onion. As one layer improves, the picture underneath can become clearer, helping to guide me towards what your body needs next. This is particularly helpful when several different symptoms have developed over time, or where there appears to be an inherited or family predisposition towards particular patterns of ill health.
Homeopathy takes into account not only your own health history, but also relevant patterns within your family history. Where appropriate, this can form part of the deeper, generational work we explore during treatment.
I also think of treatment as a series of stepping stones. Each improvement takes us another step forward, and at your follow-up appointments we can review the positive changes you’ve experienced and decide what support your body needs next.
Some people respond very quickly, while others benefit from working through several layers over a number of appointments. The lovely thing about Homeopathy is that treatment continually evolves with you, allowing us to build upon the improvements you’re already making and support your health step by step.
I’ve heard I may get worse before I get better, is this true?
Occasionally, after taking a Homeopathic remedy, there can be a temporary intensification or return of existing symptoms. Within Homeopathy, this is known as a Homeopathic aggravation and can be viewed as a positive sign that your body is responding to the remedy and beginning its healing process.
I often compare this to spring cleaning a house. When you begin a really good clear-out, things can temporarily look a little messier than they did before: everything comes out, you sort through what you need to keep and what you no longer need, and gradually everything is put back in a much better order.
Homeopathic healing can sometimes feel a little like this. As the body begins to work through different layers, you may temporarily notice old or existing symptoms before things begin to settle and you move forward again.
Not everyone experiences an aggravation, and when it does happen it is usually temporary. Your treatment is always tailored carefully to you as an individual.
If something changes between appointments and you would like me to check what is happening, you don’t need to wait until your next scheduled follow-up. You can book a 10-minute SOS Call for a quick check-in, or a 20-minute Homeopathy Follow-Up if we need a little more time to review your symptoms and consider whether your prescription needs adjusting.
Both can be booked whenever you need additional support between your usual appointments. If you have one of my Follow-Up Plans, shorter Homeopathy follow-ups can be deducted from your plan, giving you the flexibility to check in when needed.
What do Homeopathic medicines look like?
I most commonly prescribe remedies as small, sweet-tasting pills. I will always give you clear instructions explaining how and when I would like you to take your remedy.
For babies, I recommend crushing this pilule into water & giving a spoonful of the liquid.
I also use a Sulis Remedy Maker, which allows me to provide an energetic form of a Homeopathic remedy where appropriate. This can be particularly useful for online or overseas patients who may not have easy access to a particular remedy, or when a remedy is needed more quickly than I can post it to you.
In these circumstances, I may use my Sulis machine to transmit the energetic remedy remotely, rather than you needing to wait for the physical pills to arrive.
What are Homeopathic medicines made from?
Homeopathic remedies can be prepared from a wide range of natural sources, including plants, minerals and animal substances.
During their preparation, remedies undergo repeated dilution and succussion in a process known as potentisation.
Highly diluted homeopathic remedies may contain little or none of the measurable original substance. Within Homeopathy, they are understood as energetic medicines, with the remedy selected according to the individual pattern of symptoms rather than simply the name of a condition.
Are Homeopathic medicines safe?
Homeopathic remedies are generally highly diluted and are widely used by people of different ages, including babies, children and older people.
I also work with women during pregnancy and will always take your individual circumstances into account when prescribing.
Homeopathy should complement appropriate medical care rather than replace medical assessment or treatment where this is needed.
If you have any concerns about children taking Homeopathic remedies, please see my Testimonials page for some examples of how Homeopathy has helped children.
Can I use Homeopathy alongside medication from my GP?
Yes. Homeopathic medicines can be used alongside conventional medicines prescribed by your GP or specialist, and there is no known evidence of highly diluted Homeopathic remedies interacting directly with conventional medication.
You should not stop any prescribed medication in order to receive Homeopathic treatment. Please continue taking your medication exactly as directed by your GP or medical specialist, and let me know about any medication, supplements or other treatments you are currently taking so that I have a complete picture of your health.
As your health improves, there may be occasions when you wish to review whether you still need the same level of conventional medication. If so, I will always encourage you to discuss this with your GP or prescribing specialist. Any decision to reduce, alter or discontinue prescribed medication should be made with the clinician responsible for prescribing it.
Homeopathy can therefore be used as a complementary approach alongside your conventional medical care, allowing us to support your health naturally without interfering with the medical treatment you may already be receiving.
